Our online learning resources and instruction are supported through a close partnership with Wisconsin Virtual School, the state-led supplemental online course provider for Wisconsin since 2000. In addition, some Hudson Virtual Academy courses are created and or taught by Hudson High School teachers.
ONLINE COURSE SELECTION & ENROLLMENT
For the 2025-26 school year, the Hudson Virtual Academy will continue to primarily utilize courses and Wisconsin Certified instructors provided by Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS). There are a vast array of courses (AP, Electives, Core, Credit Recovery) available through Wisconsin Virtual School. A list with course descriptions can be found on their website at https://www.wisconsinvirtualschool.org/courses/
Once the Virtual Learning Coordinator and school counselor have approved the online course(s), the student will be enrolled in Wisconsin Virtual School and will receive a student account with login access to WVS and the agreed-upon course(s). Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will be provided with login information to access the WVS site and will also receive weekly email updates from WVS instructors so they can track their child’s progress.
Hudson students enrolled in WVS courses will typically follow the Hudson High School semester calendar for enrollment dates as follows unless otherwise arranged with the Virtual Learning Coordinator:
- 1st Semester Courses: August 26th, 2025 - January 19th, 2026
- 2nd Semester Courses: January 20th - June 2nd, 2026 (Note: the end date for seniors is 5/22/26)
According to Wisconsin Virtual School, students can expect to spend about 5-10 hours per week on each online course. As a general guideline, WVS encourages students to take no more than two online classes at one time--especially for students new to online learning. This is one reason why collaborating to outline a personalized education plan with the Virtual School Coordinator, school counselor, student, and parent(s)/guardian(s) is vitally important.
